"There is a famous old song about this bridge called "Sur le Pont d'Avignon""

The cobbled Medieval bridge dates back to the 17^th century and legend has it that Pont St. Benezet was inspired by a shepherd. There is a very famous old song about this bridge called "Sur le Pont d'Avignon".

The best view of the bridge, of course, is from a distance at the banks of the Rhône River.
