"Hamlet calls this massive fortress home."

Made famous as the home of Shakespeare's Hamlet, Kronborg Castle sits on the edge of the northeastern tip of the island of Zealand close to Denmark, hence its strategic importance.

The Renaissance castle belongs in UNESCO's World Heritage Sites. With easy access from Copenhagen, Kronborg Castle is just a 45' train ride away. A Copenhagen Card at the Central Train Station in Copenhagen will take care of the cost of transport and entrance.

You can learn all about the history of the home of the Denmark dynasty on the tour guides. Sitting proudly almost in the sea at the edge of the Øresund, it seems as if it is coming out of a fairytale. Ballrooms and dungeons awake the Hamlet legend in this alluring and grandeur castle built in 1585. If you are afraid of the dark, bring a flashlight or a torch! The museum shop has souvenirs and gifts to take home.
