Valkenburg's streets don't belong to cars. Or to people. They belong to bicycles. It is the ultimate cyclists city. That is why it has perfect weather conditions especially in the Summer, green and hundreds of tours for all levels.
It is an organized heaven for bicyclists, flooded with bicyclists, most of whom ride in organized teams, as you can tell from their gear.
The city hosts numerous events including the routes de France which had a stage finish in Valkenburg in 1992 and in 2006.
