"The Cauberg hill is the finish of the Amstel Gold Race for bicycles."

Valkenburg's Cauberg hill has been the finish of the Amstel Gold Race since 2003. That is the bicycle race. Perfect weather conditions, greenery, hundreds of tours for all levels, it is an organized heaven for bicyclists, flooded with bicyclists, riding in organized teams, as you can tell from their gear. The city hosts numerous events including the routes de France which had a stage finish in Valkenburg in 1992 and in 2006, the UCI Road Cycling World Championship in 1938, 1948, 1979 and 1998 and 2012.
