Dating back to the 9th century, the Roman Catholic church is situated in the Piazza del Duomo. 

A steep flight of stairs lead to the Amalfi Cathedral, which is distinguished by its stripy exterior. Its architecture is a mixture of Arab, Romanesque, Byzantine, Gothic, and Baroque design.
